Will power is an inner strength, a control over yourself as an individual.
Will power is making a decision within yourself and seeing it through, it’s a strength that you have to poses by yourself, it is engineered by self control and determination to achieve something good for yourself.
Steps in developing Will Power
Stop procrastination – proscastination is one of the common signs of laziness and weakness. It’s amongst the very common behavior that leads to failure in life.
Procrastination is giving excuses for something that should and can be done at the moment.
“Delay is dangerous”
Procrastination can also come as a result of fear, and when you let fear consume you, it will rule over you and hinder you from achieving so many things.
The strength to proceed regardless is you applying your inner strength. To do something when it’s meant to be done is an act of self discipline.
Learn to say ‘No’ – Saying no does not always mean you are rude or you are stubborn.
Two people can say the same thing and one person will be persevered as being rude or stubborn, why? It all depends on how they both said it.
Being polite is a subtle way of getting away with what you want without hurting other people’s feeling.
Disagreeing with something in a very polite way will make the other party want to reason with you. Simply stating your reasons and why you are not in agreement in a very polite way just solves it all.
Stop being apologetic for doing what’s best for you – Saying sorry when you a wrong, is you possesing inner strength.
Always saying sorry when you are not wrong, is lack of will power, it’s an act of ‘Weakness’
‘Stop being apologetic for doing what’s right for you, for example; Stop apologizing for not agreeing to do something you hate, stop apologizing for not wanting to smoke just because the cigarette was passed round the table, stop apologizing for not being available all the time.
Politely state your reason for doing whats good for you and that’s it.
Say sorry only when you offend someone, you have to differentiate these two things.
‘Apologizing for being wrong, and apologizing for doing what’s right for you’
Being assertive with your words and actions – People that are assertive are mostly men/women of their words.
Don’t say or do things you don’t mean out of emotions, fear or pressure.
Say and do things you deeply mean and see it through.
This will also help you in pursing your goals in life, when you say something within you, mean it and see it through till the end.
Being firm with your words and actions is a way of exercising your inner strength.
It will help in you achieving a more fulfilled life.
Build your self confidence – Being confident in yourself is very important for every individual, you have to know your worth in other to become confident in yourself.
You can’t value anything even yourself, if you don’t know it’s worth.
Knowing your worth boost your self confidence, and being confident in yourself boosts your inner strength to control yourself and to manage other people’s behavior around you.
Having self confidence in yourself will subconsciously make people believe in you and respect to you.
Being self conscious – Being aware of yourself will help you in making decisions and taking your stand.
Being aware of yourself is you being aware of your environment and the people around you. This way you can apply self discipline and self control in the things you do.
Most of us know what’s good for us and what’s required of us, but lack the will power to do the needful, we lack the self control to make the right decisions, we lack the confidence to stand up for what we believe, or say no to what we don’t agree with.
