Only few amongst the crowd really do meditate, some fantasize, daydream, hallucinate and mistake these for meditation, while others just hover around their thoughts.
To meditate, is to attain a state of calmness from the inside, ignoring the physical activities, sounds and movements. Being completely absent from your physical body and going into your mind ‘mental state.’
Meditation for beginners;
While you are at it, be sure to stay very focused on the particular subject you are meditating on, it will be difficult to focus, because of random thoughts, you might begin to feel stressed out from the inside, you might even experience slight headache while trying so hard to concentrate. Just try to breath slowly and relax.
Pick a place to meditate; For me, my room is my favorite place. How to pick a place to meditate, here is a tip.
“Pick a place you feel most comfortable to meditate.”
Pick a comfortable position to meditate;
Most people prefer to sit in the yoga position, ‘asana’ Keeping your head, neck and trunk straight. this is good, because it’s a good sitting posture, keeps the body alert while asleep.
I will advise you choose your preferred position to meditate, except the lying down position, I’m not saying you can never lie down to meditate, for beginners it’s not recommended because you can easily sleep off, expect you intentionally want to meditate for that very purpose.
If you have mastered the act of meditating, lying down to meditate is another good position, lying down straight, face up with both legs up!
When you observe an inner calmness, and you are finally immersed on a subject, you are finally meditating. You can only meditate on one subject at a time, it’s also possible to meditate on more than a subject, but you must have mastered meditating before you would be able to achieve this. Things that has to do with the mind, anything is possible. There are several articles on how to meditate, but trust me, when you start meditating you will realize they were all just basics on how to go about it.
Meditating is like going on a vacation inside your mind, how it goes down is totally up to you!
When you find the inner peace within you, despite all that is happening around you, that’s you taking control of your mind. Meditation gives you answers to your unanswered questions. Don’t go searching, just stay focused on a subject and breath, while you are on a subject, you could receive answers to previous subjects you have meditate on.
While meditating your eyes must be closed; To reach out to your mind, focus on the door that leads inside your mind.
Don’t forget that your mind is who you really are, often times it tend to take charge of you, this suppose to be the reverse, you are to take charge of the mind.
If you are stubborn, that’s implanted in your mind, be gentle, then it gives way to let you in.
The mind is complex, know exactly what you seek for, if not, it will bring forth all it has to you, it’s capable of changing your course. Stay focused, still attend to other subject it brings forth but afterwards go back to the subject you seek.
How long you wish to meditate is up to you; For some people, it takes longer time, for some people, not very long. But for me.
“I meditate long, because I tend to be slow in concentrating on a subject, there are times I count numbers in my head to make me go blank, then I can now pick my subject to meditate on”
If while pressing your mobile phone, all of sudden you forget the app you were about to hit, or what you were looking for, meditation might be slow for you as well.
If it’s as bad as forgetting what you stood up to do, you need to start now to inculcate the habit of meditating
“Your mind took over your body for that seconds, clouding it with all its subjects and then making your body clueless”
Good thing is, it’s not a general class, meditation is you, in your own world, go at your pace, don’t push too hard, don’t stress too hard, just practice often for perfection in getting clarity.
Do you know, meditation can make you a better person? I use to be different until I started meditating, somehow I realized how impatient I was, how quick I react to things, negative or positive things. How uncontrollable I was. I schooled myself in my mind, and I have never been better.
Ever heard this statement?
“Maturity is not by age. Wonder where it comes from? from meditation”
It is your salvation and a practice to attaining inner peace.
My dear, I could go on and on, talking on meditation, the truth is the benefits are endless, the more you meditate, the more you realize.
How to know you have been meditating;
You will begin to know yourself more.
You will find yourself content with life and things around you. (this will help you worry less about things you can’t change)
You will begin to love yourself
You will find inner peace and get angry less
You will find a new way to relax, your body, spirit and soul.
